The nine days of catechetical and spiritual preparation for St George’s Feast started on Saturday. Every day, from the 1st July at 7.00pm all devotees of St George, young and old, should be in the Basilica, to learn about and celebrate the life of our Saint. Different priests will celebrate the nine Masses of spiritual preparation for the Festa, targeting children in particular, but open to all parish families. Many surprises are in store. Children can learn about the Patron Saint as an exemplar of Christian faith. This year’s theme is Ġorġi jitfaħar biss bi Kristu Msallab.
The children attending will be treated to different activities after their Novena Mass.
During the first day of the Novena, three (3) boys from our parish received the blessing to become altar boys. The investiture of these altarboys was led by Can. Richard Farrugia. The boys that received this blessing are Anthony and Michael Zammit, and Francesco Cefai. Yesterday, different anniversaries were celebrated.
