Welcome to the Official Website of St George’s Basilica, which serves as a virtual link between our parish community in Gozo, Malta and its members spread around the globe.

If you are a tourist planning to visit our beautiful island, make sure you do not miss a visit to this magnificent temple built by the Gozitans of old in honour of their Patron Saint. St George’s Parish is one of the oldest among the fifteen faith communities in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Gozo, and lies at the very heart of the Christian island. The present building, dating back to 1678 and erected on the site of older ones, houses some of the most precious sacred works of art.

Both if you are a visitor or a distant parishioner, we are happy to share with you our Christian faith and heritage as well as our love for Saint George, the third-century martyr who inspires us to live the Gospel and give witness to Christ. Known as “the Golden Basilica”, St George’s is home to an active community of more than 2,500 families and some of the most splendid liturgies on the island.

On this page, you will find all the information you need about our church and community. For more news and updates, visit also our Facebook Page and YouTube Channel.
