Haec dies quam fecit Dominus! “This is the day which the Lord has made!” Today it is Easter Sunday, the feast of feasts, the day of unequalled joy, the day on which Christ is raised.
Yesterday, the large congregation at St George’s basilica joined the churches of the world in the celebration of the triumph of Christ over death. Today it continues with the celebration. At 8.45am the La Stella Band of Victoria plays festive marches to welcome the appearance of the statue of the Risen Lord out of the bronze portals of the basilica and then accompanies him along the main streets of Victoria.
Then, at 11.00am, HL Mgr Anton Teuma, the bishop of Gozo and dean of the Collegiate Chapter, presides High Concelebrated Mass. The members of the Collegiate Chapter and clergy concelebrate. Laudate Pueri Choir sings.
At 4.30pm the Collegiate Chapter celebrates Solemn Vespers. For the rest the schedule of the day’s Holy Masses is that of Sunday.
Archpriest Mgr Joseph Curmi, the Collegiate Chapter, Clergy and Parish Pastoral Council wish a Happy Easter to all our visitors on this website. May the Joy of the Risen Lord be in you, fill your homes and accompany you always and everywhere.
