Another edition of Il-Belt Victoria is out, covering the period from May 2024 to August 2025. This edition places particular focus on the inauguration of the newly decorated Byzantine Chapel of the Blessed Sacrament. In fact, its front cover features a striking image of the chapel, and several pages inside highlight the newly inaugurated space.
The first article offers an overview of the chapel’s inauguration, while the second provides a deeper explanation of the symbolism and theology behind its artistic and architectural elements. This section is further enriched by a selection of photographs depicting both the inauguration and the chapel itself.
This edition also features coverage of the Pastoral Visit of Bishop Teuma, held in November, including the numerous meetings he conducted with various individuals and groups within the community. The publication also reports on the death of Pope Francis and the election of Pope Leo XIV.
Another prominent article commemorates the centenary of the death of Mgr Giuseppe Farrugia, known as Tal-Vers, presenting an overview of his contributions to St George’s Basilica and to the wider community. Trappist monk Bro George Grech contributes an article on our Patron Saint and the Jubilee of Hope.
Eman G. Camilleri and Fulvio Maria Valenti provide an account of their service as altarboys at the Vatican during the summer of 2024. Two additional articles focus on Mary Meylak and on the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem. The annual parish pilgrimage to Lourdes is also featured.
The backpage presents three photo stories: the protest held at St George’s Square regarding the occupation of public land by tables and chairs; Bishop Teuma’s Pastoral Visit; and seminarian Samuel Aquilina, who was ordained a Deacon in June 2025.
