Yesterday was the first day of a Christmas Novena and organised with special appeal to the young of the parish. The church was crowded with children who were overseen by members of the female members tal-Mużew and their families amongst others.  After the Mass, the children spilled out into the surrounding streets holding pieces of the crib given out by the parish.

The function followed more or less the traditional format of Mass, Advent antiphon and benediction.  The Mass is being said by Archpriest Mgr Joseph Curmi.  The carol singing is adapted to the young congregation and it is accompanied by the children’s guitar group.  The salutation Alma Redemptoris Mater was sung by young Luke Spiteri, who was accompanied by Can. George J. Frendo at the organ.  Sacramental benediction was imparted by Archpriest Curmi.

One way of experiencing this Advent is the Tree of Charity. This year our parish is supporting Arka, Dar Emmaws, id-Djakonija Djoċesana, Dar San Ġużepp, the Jesuit Refugee Services and the Rise Foundation.  One can place gifts under the tree.

Let’s keep attending the Novena!
