Yesterday, a week before St George’s feast day, our parish celebrated two special events: Rev. Gabriel Vella’s thanks giving mass and the conclusion of the Novena days in honour of St George’s; a fabulous start for the festa week in honour of Gozo’s Patron saint.
The nine-day experience leading to St George’s feast, traditionally known as the Novena, came to a most fitting end with many members of our parish community stating positive comments on its outcome. In a few words, it has been a rewarding success: rewarding, because it proved right the genuine efforts of the young volunteers at the parish office; and success, since it drew to the basilica many children and their parents for nine days of spiritual and catechetical preparation for St George’s feast.
