Another edition of Il-Belt Victoria is out. In these particular times, the Parish has decided that, for the time being, the magazine is made available only in digital format. We encourage our parishioners to stay safe. Thus, do consider this issue as another valid reason to stay at home: there is much to read!

This 198th edition covers the inauguration of the dome’s interior. In fact, the front page displays the splendour of the newly restored dome. Other related pages include all the speeches given on the inauguration day of the restoration works, while the centre spread shows all of the eight paintings adorning the dome. One also finds the first part of an article penned by biblical scholar Rev. Dr Martin Micallef ofmcap giving more insight on the theological meaning of Conti’s paintings.

Other articles featuring in this latest edition commemorate parish trips abroad. The Laudate Pueri’s visit to London and the service at Westminster Cathedral are of course given their due importance. In fact, the backpage of the publication shows our choir singing during that mass. A detailed account is also given of the parish pilgrimage to the Holy Land.

Other articles report the installation of one of our priests, Fr Simon M. Cachia, as the new Parish Priest at Fontana, and that of two new canons for our Collegiate Chapter; together with the commencment of restoration works on the Basilica’s magnificent façade. Other regular articles include the Archpriest’s message, a historical research prepared by the Parish Archivist, and the parish diary.

The backpage gives prominence to the announcement by Dr Justyne Caruana, then Minister for Gozo, that the Gozo Ministry would fork out the total sum of €65,000 for the new lighting installation for our façade and dome.
