Another issue of Il-Belt Victoria is out now and has been distributed to our readers.

The front page is dominated once again by a large photo, this time showing the statue of our Patron Saint in the main aisle of the Basilica and, from this year, adorned by two restored chandeliers.

The backpage features another photo of St George’s titular procession approaching the Basilica at the end of last July’s feast. The installation of one of our young priests, Fr Simon M. Cachia, as the new Parishpriest of Fontana, and an early full-colour postcard showing our titular statue feature also on the backpage.

This edition covers in depth the newly restored Zahra paintings and the official opening ceremony last June. Speeches delivered on the occasion are being reproduced in this publication, accompanied by a number of photos showing the whole process involved. Also, two large photos showing each of the two restored paintings are reproduced in the middle pages.

Other articles include a review of the main pastoral activities held by the parish; the recent experience of Karl Curmi, one of our altarboys, inside the Vatican; the one-year experience of Anthony Joe Borg, now in his first year as a seminarian; a new series prepared by Toni Farrugia from the Basilica Archives, with this number featuring old postcards; literature on our patron saint; an article on marian exhibits at Il-Ħaġar Museum on the occasion of the Marian Year; the last part of a contract on the establishment of four parishes in Gozo; a fitting tribute to author and historian Pawlu Mizzi penned by former Archpriest Mgr Joseph Farrugia; and the parish diary.
