One of the titular cardinals of the Roman San Giorgio al Velabro Basilica in the very heart of the imperial city of Rome is to be declared a saint.
Blessed John Henry Newman, renowned as one of the founding-fathers of the Oxford Movement and of the main Catholic apologetics of the Victorian age, is to be declared a saint by Pope Francis on the 13th of October.
According to The Telegraph, Newman will be the first English person to be canonized in almost fifty years.
