It’s that month of the year, once again – at last!

Yes, that month where all Ġorġjani are gearing up for Gozo’s main feast. It’s that month of the year where the Basilica will be fully adorned with its richest decorations, where we will endulge our senses with the finest music and solemn liturgy. It’s that month of the year where we will see a lot of people flock our parish, hear mass and perhaps light a candle for our saint. It’s that month of the year where Victoria will be garnished with its finest dress. It’s that time of the year where our band – with a conglomeration of other band clubs – will listen their finest notes to the enjoyment and indulgence of all those present. It’s that month of the year where for one whole week our city will turn in festa mode. It’s that month of the year where families – young, youth, older and emigrants – join together to celebrate St George.

It’s that month of the year where all volunteers will be hectic ensuring all chores are done – and done well. It’s that month of the year where sleepless nights and hot sunny days will be the order of the day. And for what? It’s for experiencing those moments which you cannot describe them by words, photos or videos. It’s for seeing our Saint George going around the streets where he is Gozo’s particular Patron. It’s for once a year that with our full voice – joined by hundreds of other Ġorġjani – will be chanting: “Ġorġi tagħna min qatt bħalek!”.

So this is an open invitation to all of our readers: come and join us, it’s that time of the year again…
